(9.4) Students in Coach Hatcher’s health classes recently took the fun and insightful personality assessment, “ What animal am I?” Students then created displays that showcased their animal and their character traits.

(9.4) Our Oral Communications classes welcomed a guest speaker - Ava Robbins. Ava is not only a 2024 graduate of PHS, but she is also Pontotoc County’s Miss Hospitality. She recently represented our town at the Mississippi Miss Hospitality Compeition in July. Ava shared her journey of learning to speak confidently in front of a crowd with the class, as well as presented her own MS Speech and Hometown Commercial. Ava left them with tips on how to overcome stage fright, perfect their delivery and show confidence! Her story of growth, along with the tips she provided were very valuable to students as they prepare for their first speeches later this week. Thank you so much Ava for sharing your time and wisdom with the class today…we can’t wait to see how our student’s speeches turn out!

(9.4) Students in Mrs. Caldwell’s classes have studied the vocabulary terms related to an airplane, identified the parts of an air plane, and used a scale grid to put together the student made puzzle! They then constructed paper airplanes and had a flight competition outside!

(8.29) PJHS 8th grade science students are doing station rotations today learning and experimenting with interactions of light.

(8.29) Coach Chrestman’s Mississippi Studies classes have been learning about the history of the Olympics and the impact Native Americans have had on our great state. Combining the two topics today, students learned about Native American Jim Thorpe. Jim Thorpe is considered one of the greatest athletes of all time, winning two gold medals in the 1912 Olympics. He won gold in the decathlon and pentathlon. Some of the events in the decathlon and pentathlon are shot put, discus and javelin. Students got the opportunity to see what those throwing elements were in class today.

(8.29) Mrs. Caldwell’s students were competing as teams using their engineering skills to make ZOOB creations. Great job guys!!

(8.23) Mrs. Slay’s 8th grade science classes are learning about molecular arrangements and how those arrangements affect the speed of sound and light travel.

(8.23) Students started off the school year seeing Words of Wisdom from some of our PJHS Staff. It’s important that students know that we as adults do remember being in their shoes and that we ultimately want the best for them always!
