12/7 Last year’s students in Mrs. Moore’s classroom read The Hunger Games trilogy as their novel study. This past week they participated in a narrative writing unit in which they wrote out predictions for the plot of the new Hunger Games prequel -The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Then, they traveled to Tupelo to view the film. They even made a stop for Chic-fil-a, which some students had never eaten before today! We want to thank Mrs. Moore for planning this fun day for our 8th/9th grade students.

(11.29) Mrs. Holladay’s Cyber Foundations II classes just finished up a code.org unit on games and animations. Students created their own games and then shared them to their phones to actually play them. If anything didn't function as intended, they returned to the code, making revisions until it worked correctly.

(11.29) Our school counselor, Mrs. Cruse, finished speaking with 8th graders about their Individual Success Plans. Topics included graduation requirements, endorsement areas, learning how to read student transcripts, credit summary sheets and completing a career interest inventory. Parents are encouraged to speak to students about these conversations so the course request process for 9th grade goes smoothly in the Spring.

(11.28) Mrs. Slay's class created Science ornaments for the classroom Christmas tree.

(11.27) All PJH students participated in a class spelling bee on November 17. The following students have advanced to the school spelling bee which will be held on Wednesday, November 29. Congratulations students!

(11/17) Our Student Council led a successful Turkey Feather competition, and Mrs. Slay's class dominated with 1,957 feathers! 🦃🏆 Thanks to all students and families for your support of our school’s Christmas project!

(11/15) Mrs. Tutor’s class focused on RL/RL 8.2 standard which assesses Theme, main idea, and objective summary. Students were able to work in groups to discover who the criminal was for the crime using assessment questions to get clues. They thoroughly enjoyed being able to take a break from their desks and computer screens, and they especially loved finding #8.

(11/13) All of the contestants did an amazing job Friday night. Congratulations to all the contestants and winners!

(10/26) Mrs. Caldwell’s classes completed their Architecture Unit last week. Students first researched different architectural styles. They then practiced with legos, before drawing and designing their chosen home using measurement and creative details.
